The Tonic 3 band audio equalizer is a module that fits into the API format 500 series frames and features the Buzz Audio True Class A discrete amplifiers and a hi-spec Lundahl output transformer. The high and low bands feature choke based filters for that vintage sound and the sweep-able midrange allows you to tune in on those difficult resonances - perfect for both recording and mixing applications.

Brilliant EQ - mandatory purchase for all! :)

First thing that stands out is the sheer craftsmanship with how this 500 series eq is designed, constructed, and assembled - it’s a piece of art to view, while this has nothing to do with the sound (yet) I feel its worth noting to anybody with an interest in DIY electrical/audio…beautifully put together, and you can see the BE41 Class A discrete amplifiers, output transformer, chokes etc

I tested/experienced the Tonic EQ with various tracks (e.g bass, guitars, snare, OH’s…..material I’m already familiar with)

I compared the Tonic by inserting various other 500 series EQ’s in it’s place, the Tonic stood out, and was my preference for numerous instruments – I was comparing against various “industry standard” EQ’s….such as the company with 3 letters starts with S, and the company with 3 letters that starts with A :)

This is a seriously impressive sounding EQ with a huge amount of features. The frequency options available cover all bases in my view, I didn’t find myself thinking “if only it had xx” this is an incredibly well thought out EQ.
I purchased another Tonic the same day as receiving the first! it’s that good!
